Communication With Whānau - Information, Events and Celebrations

We work really hard to communicate with whānau and use a range of different methods to try to meet the range of ways our OPS whānau prefer to receive information. We aim to communicate early enough to give whānau the information they need.

One of the themes which came from our request for feedback from our community at the end of 2023 was a need to streamline our communication. We plan to work on this over Term 1 and request some feedback from you at the end of the term.

Weekly Newsletters - 

• weekly school information, events, updates, celebrations, dates etc. Usually a longer newsletter one week and a shorter reminder the next

• emailed home every Thursday - If you don't get the email, please let our office know so we can update your email contacts

• shared on our OPS Website and OPS Facebook page every Thursday

Emails to whānau

• sometimes there is information which needs to be shared urgently, between newsletters, which is emailed from our office

Texts to whānau for absences - 

• once teachers and office staff have checked which children are at school and which whānau have let us know their child will be away, a text is sent to whānau we have not heard from asking you to let us know about your child's absence

Seesaw - 

• it’s really important that every whānau is connected to Seesaw. This is where you will get information from your child’s whānau teacher and teachers in the Learning Community. If you have any questions about Seesaw, please contact your child’s whānau teacher

• once you are connected YOU can invite additional whānau members.

• weekly Seesaw posts will include events, information about learning, updates.

• seesaw posts which include ‘Specific Learning Posts’ about your child’s learning (see below) are scheduled each term.

OPS Website - 

• parts of this site are updated weekly - our weekly newsletter can be found here along with previous weeks’ newsletters

• school events and information is shared on our site. This will often be more detailed information than the weekly newsletter or will collate information from newsletters

• at times information is shared on this page between newsletters 

• newsletters are shared via this page each Thursday
