Onehunga Primary School
Our 2023 Book Week & Scholastic Book Fair will be in Week 8 - Monday 27 Nov to Friday 1 Dec
Learning Communities will visit during the week and whānau and friends are invited to visit and purchase before and after school.
This is a great opportunity to purchase Christmas presents. We can help manage this in a way so that it is a surprise if you have your children with you.
If you are able to help with our book fair, please contact Erin in our office - office@onehungaprimary.school.nz or put your name on the sign up sheet
The Scholastic Book Fair in our library will be open Monday to Friday, mornings, 8.15am - 8 45am and afternoons 3.00pm - 3.45pm.
The theme for this year’s book fair is ‘Hats Off to Reading’. We invite ākonga and whānau to create a book/reading themed hat to wear on Friday 1/12, or dress as a book character. If you decorate your hat about a specific book, bring a copy of the book if you can.
Hearing From OPS Whānau
The Board of Trustees are working on the ‘Strategic Plan’ for 2024-2025. We want to make sure we hear the voices of all whānau over the next few weeks, to ensure the plan reflects our OPS community and guides us as a school to meet the needs of our OPS ākonga.
Your ideas and views, along with those of staff and ākonga, student achievement data, current education research and MOE guidelines and legislation will help us develop the Strategic Plan. “The school or kura's charter and strategic plan… describe the board's long term plans for the school or kura and sets goals that will help make them happen.” - Ministry Of Education (MOE) website
You can find out more about a school’s Strategic Plans here on the MOE site.
What we need is very simple - we want your feedback on these four questions:
What three things do you want your children to achieve during primary school?
What would you like OPS to keep doing?
What would you like OPS to start doing?
What would you like OPS to do less of?
Some whānau shared your ideas at our Arts and Cultural Festival. The same questions are included in this form and will be available to complete in our office.
We will summarise the responses from OPS whānau, staff and ākonga and identify trends to feed into our planning.
Anyone who shares their ideas and provides their name, ethnicity and year levels of their children will go into the draw for a ‘4 Square’ gift cards valued at $50.00. Adding your name etc is optional.
Congratulations to Cindy and Amanda who won the vouchers by sharing feedback at our Arts and Cultural Festival on Saturday.
In 2024, we will also be asking you to share your thoughts and ideas again about some specific areas including feedback after each term's reporting and consulting about our Health and PE curriculum.
You can get to the form to share your ideas here - https://forms.gle/BpciETrTa5TcuVDDA
Please share your feedback by Monday December 11 2023.
A confident, inspired community of learners
