Knowing if your child is well enough to go to school
OPS ‘We CARE Values’
‘We CARE’ has been a well known concept at Onehunga Primary School for over a decade. We use it in our everyday language with ākonga (learners), and seeing these values in action is one of the things which makes our school very special.
While most ākonga are able to explain what each letter means, our aim is for all of our ākonga to also be able to give examples of how we use it at school and examples of when they have used it.
Collaboration - learning and working together
Act - safely and responsibly
Respect - people, places and things
Empathy - walking in someone else's shoes

“The Education Review Office | Te Tari Arotake Mātauranga (ERO) is the New Zealand government’s external education evaluation agency. We evaluate and report on the education and care of learners in schools, kura, kōhanga reo, puna reo, and early childhood services.”
Our Board of Trustees is thrilled to share our confirmed Education Review Office report. It was received last week and presented at this week's BOT meeting.
Congratulations to our staff, students and whānau for the part you play in our school's success.
The report confirms Onehunga Primary School is demonstrating increasing success and progress for all learners, underpinned by excellent school performance.
A key driver of this success is excellent quality teaching practice, leading to improved achievement in literacy and mathematics.
Our school provides rich learning opportunities across a broad curriculum and effectively supports learners with complex needs.
The report strongly suggests that effective school planning and conditions, guided by strong leadership, are contributing to this excellent performance.
The recommendations within this ERO report strongly align with the plans already in place within our school's strategic plan, further validating our current direction.
