OPS ‘We CARE Values’
‘We CARE’ has been a well known concept at Onehunga Primary School for over a decade. We use it in our everyday language with ākonga (learners), and seeing these values in action is one of the things which makes our school very special.
While most ākonga are able to explain what each letter means, our aim is for all of our ākonga to also be able to give examples of how we use it at school and examples of when they have used it.
Collaboration - learning and working together
Act - safely and responsibly
Respect - people, places and things
Empathy - walking in someone else's shoes
February 2025 -
This week we had our second formal visit from the Education Review Office (ERO).
The Education Review Office (ERO) is a government agency that independently reviews the quality of education and helps education providers to improve. We last had ERO visit us in 2018 and are looking forward to the opportunity to work with the ERO team to review our school and add to our plans for ongoing improvement.
You can find out more in this short video - https://vimeo.com/538047317
“The Education Review Office | Te Tari Arotake Mātauranga (ERO) is the New Zealand government’s external education evaluation agency. We evaluate and report on the education and care of learners in schools, kura, kōhanga reo, puna reo, and early childhood services.”
Our Lead ERO person met with our Board of Trustees at the end of 2024 to talk about the process and respond to any questions.
This week we had our second formal visit from the Education Review Office (ERO).
This week’s visit focused on legislative requirements organised together in a BAS - Board Assurance Statement. The team met with a small group of teachers and a small group of ākonga.
The next visit later this term has a strong learning focus utilising our school's review of a ‘School Improvement Framework’.
