Kereru Learning at Home

28th February 2022

Kia ora Kereru Whānau,

As a result of students having to stay at home for up to ten days, the Kereru team has created learning activities that can be completed while isolating. These activities are linked to the learning that is currently being taught in class.

To enable a connection between home and school and to give us the chance to give feedback on the learning that your child does, we will be using Seesaw to provide home learning.

Each week the Kereru Virtual Classroom will be pinned to the top of the Seesaw feed. This classroom will have links to a range of learning activities for all students to select from. Some will be links to other sites to support learning or to Seesaw activities that can be completed and submitted for feedback.

Our main online learning platforms are Mathletics, Sumdog and Epic for reading. Students isolating will be sent their log in information for Mathletics and Sumdog, while the Epic class code can be found in the virtual classroom.

The OPS Learning from Home website from last year is still accessible and there is a wide range of learning packs under the Kereru link that our students will not have used in 2021.

We aim to provide Zoom sessions where one of the Kereru team will go over the learning for the week, check in with how students are doing and answer any questions around the learning. Zoom links will be added to the virtual classroom and sent as a notification to parents and students.

Please feel free to message your child's teacher on Seesaw or by email if you have any questions and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

This site is based on 2021 content.

We are directing whānau who have children learning at home due to the need to isolate in 2022 to this site to find additional learning to what their teacher shares if they need it.

There is a huge amount of learning which will be new and unseen because your child is in a different team and class now in 2022.
